Hello there is some more things to catch up on like I play as a fighter called Mustafa the Lion who comes from the Arabian deserts to explore the Black City. The Black City takes place in viking times and is on an island in the north. Where these aliens made a society and lived there and had all these crazy experiments. But then they all just died. Later vikings found it and made a town called Trade Town and vikings from all around come to explore the Black City.
Mustafa is also a front line fighter. (I got the idea from the movie the thirteenth warrior) He uses dual scimitars one in each hand, he does not get two attacks, though, but each round using his other scimitar he can put one extra point to armor class, damage, or to hit. We are all level one characters again so no fireballs or 50 hit point fighters any more. We are also playing with a new set of rules called Lamentations of the Flame Princess which means no paladins, no rangers, no assassins, just the regular classic D&D classes. Such as elfs, dwarfs, halfings, thiefs, clerics, magic users, and fighters. So now back to the black city we just finished our 16th game session and Mustafa is level 3.
So inside the dungeon there are these gems that open doors and those doors have flashing lights on them and those gems have to match the color of the flashing lights on these doors. There is also an order these gems go in, see there are orange gems, then yellow gems, then red gems so on so on. But what I mean is is that first you find orange gems and they are on the first level so they open orange doors that are on the first level. Then you find yellow gems that are on the second level and they open yellow doors that are on the second level so on, so on. Then red, then green, then Indigo, then violet, then that's all we know so far. Another thing about them is that if I use a red gem to open an orange door that will work to. So the highest color gem we have gotten yet is an indigo gem but we sold it for a magic scimitar for me. It was around 6,000 GP.
Another thing to know is that when I say level I don't mean like another level down I mean like another transit tunnel. See the aliens had these transit tunnels running through the first level and we kinda call them mini dungeons. Like there is the Well of Woe dungeon we call it that because the Jarl Bergfinn set up an outpost near a hole in the ground that leads to the dungeon. And their guards help people in and out of the dungeon so they called it the Well of Woe. So that area of the dungeon is the Well of Woe dungeon and there is also the mist dungeon the adamantite dungeon and the ice cave dungeon.
Then there is the surface ruins that we have explored a little bit but not as much as the under ground dungeons. We also know that underneath the transit tunnels there is this huge cavern full of giant bugs and mushroom forests. Once we were exploring up on the surface and we found this tower with all these mechanics and we went up the stairs and a portal opened so we went through it and we were on a platform in outer space and there was Odin standing right there and talking to us. (In case any of you don't know Odin is the god of the viking gods or in other words the Norse gods) The two clerics immediately started bowing and worshiping them while the rest of us started looking and we were looking down at earth or in other words Midgard. So we kinda made friends with him and he told us to put these fuse crystals in this one area to get it working again. (By the way fuse crystals are these crystals that generate power if you put them in these little boxes in the walls that make the black city running again and make Odin more powerful)
So he gave us nine days to finish the task and on our way there were these rooms that we found that had these glass windows overlooking what look like magic circles on the ground and right underneath the glass was these crystals in the pockets in the wall. So we took the left one out and the magic circle shifted a little bit and we saw the outline of a huge beast down by the magic circle. ( It was obviously invisible). Then we saw these huge scratches on the thick glass so we put the left one back and ran. So we did the job for Odin and went back to talk with him he said that what we did helped him a lot so we talked to him and he gave us two more jobs. But he said when you are exploring these parts of the transit tunnels make sure you don't release Loki. And made an image of the magic circle that we were at and said don't pickup one of these crystals. Then he said I am afraid he would immediately dig down to the caverns below where true horrors sleep, and wake them up. We were like oh, god this can't be good and we told him that we did release Loki but he just said no you did not release Loki you released the thing who walks behind. So we named it "Daddy's Roommate" he also said that it is probably tracking you right now. So we asked him if he could send creatures into outer space he said only if it is in this tower so we asked if you said it would follow us do you think it would follow us here in this tower and then you saw a smile starting to spread on Odin's face.
So when we heard something running up the stairs we knew it was coming. Near the top of the stairs we saw huge chunks of stone being ripped off of the stairs. Then we saw a swirling vortex around it and for a few seconds we saw a glimpse of it. It was very ape like only scaly and it had spikes running down it's back and then it was gone, sent to the void by odin, and we got the XP from it. We went back to town and got a bunch of experience and Mustafa leveled up to level 3. For more information checkout my dad's blog called Dreams of the Litch House.

The Black Temple part 3
Last time I posted the fight was still raging on. There was still two trolls to take down, some more norkers to kill, an ogre still on its feet, and running up the stair was more norkers. Mr. Moore cast ice storm and made it slippery for the monsters. That gave us time to pull people back behind our fighters. Then our magic-users cast magic missile. Then the norkers came up the stairs dropping oil caskets on the floor around the stairs. And the next set of monsters coming up after the norkers were ogres and apparently the ogres were supposed to throw the caskets on our front line. But we fire balled the the caskets making a fire off to one side of the stairs. At that point our fighters made a line in front of the entrance while the clerics healed and everyone else behind the fighters were shooting missiles. Then we felt the ground shaking and heard giant footsteps as something big was down below. Two hill giants came up the stairs our fighters kept on fighting. Then after a few rounds later we figured out what was making the ground shake for it was coming up the stairs and it was a MOUNTAIN GIANT and its one main objective was to crush the paladin! The fight went on Mr. Moore shot a fire ball at the mountain giant but it didn't really notice it it just went straight for the paladin and it charged him for like thirty hit points of damage while Shy was put at 0 hp by a hill giant. It wasn't looking good for our hero's cause the paladin's protection from evil gave them minus two on armor class to everybody next to him but if the paladin went under 0 hp it would go away. But then Konstantine got the scroll polymorph others from his backpack and used it to turn the mountain giant into a snail. Four more ogres came up the stairs we finished them off and by then we had cleared out like the first three rooms.

The Black Temple part 2.
So we last ended with us in the middle of battle with a bunch of norkers and gnoles. So the magic-users got out of the net and were getting some magic missiles while Mr. Moore ran 24 spaces away to all the other magic related guys. The battle was raging then the reinforcements came and running up the stairs was AT LEAST four trolls and we got a glimpse of a WAR TROLL behind all the others! So we managed to magic missile a bunch of gnoles and norkers that were attacking Digit and then him and Grumble ran back to safety. Then the trolls came gushing into the room but 3 out of 6 were killed and the war troll was seriously injured by two fireballs! The clerics cast hold person on some norkers and the fighters did a fighting with draw to make a line then the war troll was killed by a fireball while the other trolls were on the verge of death. Then more norkers came running up the stairs! The fight was raging on and one of the trolls were down now we need to flame him so he stops regenerating while the other was only a few more hits before death! Then one of the clerics cast blade barrier around one set of stairs and right at that moment there was what sounded like a hill giant ran right into it and just got all cut up! Score! Then an ogre followed by more norkers came running up the stairs!

The Black Temple.
We last ended with us deciding we would go to this Black Temple. So we set out right after breakfast and followed the trail that they said would lead us to the Black Temple, and on the trees they had all the bark chewed off, and big tracks on the ground. We first thought trolls or ogres so we kept a good lookout. The rangers eventually spotted the Black Temple up on a big hill so we made camp a little ways away from that hill and around a rock so the we were not in sight of the Temple. But in the middle of the night we smelled a horrible smell. And then charging around the rock are two giant trolls, the people asleep were getting woke up and the people awake had to roll initiative! The trolls were not taking much damage (trolls regenerate health) were as Shy was getting 6 hits a round. Then the magic came the sleeping people were finally up but it was to late Shy had passed away! We finally killed the trolls and reanimated Shy but wow that was just a wandering monster I wonder how bad the temple is. We got some rest so the fighters could regain health and the magi-users could regain their spells. So next morning we decided to leave Meat-Shield 1, The Hawk and the horses at camp while the rest of us went into the Temple. When we approached it there was this ramp that lead up to it we climbed halfway and gave Digit the invisibility ring and sent him up to scout the entrance. The Temple was three levels the bottom level was the biggest and the second was a little bit smaller and the top was the smallest. When Digit got to the entrance he noticed that the entrance was a big hall with no door just a hall and the way to get up to the hall is going up a ramp that goes over the first two levels (the entrance was into the top level). When Digit got into the temple he searched the ground and looked around he saw some gnoles further back in the temple and around him was all these norkers and in the far back there were these stairs and some norker leaders. Digit came back to us and we put together a plan. We cast silence on a rock and send Mr. Moore up holding it so the monsters couldn't hear him walking. Then Digit came up with all the fighters and Mr. Moore threw the rock back to Digit so the monsters couldn't hear the fighters. Then Mr. Moore shot a sleep into the room putting a bunch to sleep and the siege began! All of a sudden there was all these swords and clashing all over the room our thiefs ran up to all the sleeping guys and started cutting them up while our fighters went to either side were a lot of the awake guys are and our magic-users stayed back and got their spells ready when a net right over the hall came down on the magic-users NNNNOOOOOOOO!!! We are doomed! Digit checked the ground not the walls or ceiling! Then our thieves started taking a beating from the monsters because they were up front were the sleeping guys are so they were in trouble and our magic-users were trying to crawl out of net while being beaten by a bunch of norkers and our fighters couldn't stand a chance against them on by themselves! And on top of all that some norkers went down the stairs to get reinforcements! But then Mr. Moore's brownie said were you want to go boss Mr. Moore told him in a corner of the room and then he teleported to that corner and Mr. Moore got a lightning bolt ready. The fight went on the fighters taking in more and more damage the thieves almost dead and the magic -users struggling to get out of the net! Then Mr. Moore's lightning bolt went off and took out at least 4 or 5 norkers then at that moment the norker leader saw it got some troops and went straight towards Mr. Moore but he got a fireball and took out the leader and his troops! Then the magic-users got out and got some sleeps ready. The fighters took out some more norkers and gnoles but the reinforcements were about to come!

The Gnomish Vale
Last time we ended with seeing the hill people up ahead and coming to a halt. We decided to send Grumble up ahead with the invisibility ring. So Grumble heard they were talking about us and went back to the group and told them that we should just talk to them (because we have made friends with hill people before as a madder of fact that is were we got our rangers). So that's what we did and we told them that we were going to the Gnomish Vale and they said that they were friends with the gnomes and that they would be happy to bring us there. When we were greeted by lots of gnomes and taken to their king so we could ask him about trade with Borovia, and the Caverns of Soykanth (were this Demonomicon book is). So when we talked about trade they agreed, and they told us that the sword I Leonidas was looking for was inside a rock and the rock was taken by giants to a black temple. But when talked about the caverns they said they were forbidden to tell us and they said that they would take care of these "miscreants" (he means the Witch, Sirus Maxamus, and Calsidius). While Consantine says ya like you took care of those giants who took the sword. Then the king went storming off to bed. And the next day we decided to go take care of the giants that took the sword to make peace with the gnomes so they could tell us were the caverns are. So we told them that we are going to these giants and they said that they would be happy to tell us were the caverns are after we killed the giants...

The Giants.
Okay, I was sick last game but I do know that we killed some hobgoblins and didn't find the Gnomish Vale. But did spot it thanks to Boris the druid's hawk he's training. Its only about eight hexes away, the only problem is finding the path to it. So we went on with our journey. There was an intersection up ahead. When we got to it we saw GIANT tracks on the path, so we figured there is some giant up ahead. We made camp on some hills away from the tracks. In the middle of the night we heard trees falling and giant foot steps, and then they just came to a halt and went way off in the other direction. Then later in the night we heard the same thing only there were multiple ones and this time they didn't run away. We heard them trying to tip toe it sounded like tip toe, tip toe, "hahahahaha", tip toe, tip toe, "hahahahaha". We noticed one of them was sneaking behind us and the other two in front. All the fighters ran up front and started beating up the two front giants while Grumble slipped on the invisibility ring and back stabbed one of the front giants. The front giants were down in no time but the back one took awhileto take down. Once he saw our fighters turning around with bloody swords, and his friends dead he ran. Mr. Moore shot a lightning bolt and took him to the ground then our fighters finished him off. The giants themselves didn't have very good loot but once we found their cave we got copper, gold, and silver. We then started on our journey again and our rangers spotted hill people up ahead...
By the way.
By the way we switched over to ad&d so Grumble will be a full time thief, so he and the other thieves can now back stab for triple damage!
